The Webflow MCP server
Webflow publishes an official MCP server. You add it to Claude (or another agent) as a remote server with OAuth, or run it locally with a Webflow API token. Per Webflow's developer docs:
- Data side: CMS collections and items, pages, SEO and metadata, assets, custom code: the mature part, good for content operations at scale.
- Designer side: with the Webflow Designer open and its bridge app connected, the agent can create elements, styles and variables on the canvas, and read the current page, selection and breakpoints.
- Not yet: Webflow's docs say it can't create or apply Interactions.
Where it shines: “add these 40 case studies to the CMS”, “fix the meta descriptions on every page”, “make a variant of this section for the pricing page”.
The Framer MCP plugins
Framer doesn't publish its own MCP server. Its marketplace has third-party plugins, such as the MCP plugin from unframer (whose listing says it isn't official) and Proofly MCP. They connect Claude to the Framer project you have open, through the plugin, so the agent can read and change it.
- The plugin has to stay open in Framer while the agent works.
- It works on that one open project.
- Your project data passes through the plugin maker's service, so read its terms before connecting a client's site.
What neither does
Both servers are hands, not taste. They let Claude change a site that's already in Webflow or Framer, in the way you describe. They don't give Claude a designed system to work inside, check the result in a browser for the tells of generated design, or make a pitch for a prospect who isn't your client yet. Claude left to design on its own tends towards the same safe defaults, wherever it's working (see why Claude's sites look generic).
How Sonder sits beside them
Sonder, the website MCP for designers, is a different kind of server: it makes the site itself, as code, in one of 23 whole-site looks, and hosts it.
| Webflow MCP | Framer MCP plugins | Sonder | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Made by | Webflow | Third parties | Sonder |
| Works on | Sites in your Webflow account | The open Framer project | Any business's site, read from its link; or your own project |
| Design | What you or the agent build | What you or the agent build | 23 whole-site looks, filled with the client's material |
| Checks | None built in | None built in | Every page in a real browser |
| Hosting | Webflow | Framer | Sonder link, or the client's domain on a paid plan; code export |
| Client editing | Webflow's CMS and Editor | Framer's CMS and on-page editing | None: clients comment and approve on a review link |
A sensible split: keep sites that clients edit every week in Webflow or Framer, with their servers for the agent. Use Sonder for pitches, for redesigns, and for sites the client would rather not maintain.
Questions
Is there an official Framer MCP server?
Not from Framer itself, as of October 2026. The MCP plugins in Framer's marketplace are made by third parties; the unframer plugin's listing says it isn't an official Framer plugin.
Can the Webflow MCP design a site for me?
It can create elements and styles on the canvas when the Designer is open, as the agent directs. It doesn't come with a design system or a look, so the result is as good as the direction you give.
Can I use Sonder and the Webflow MCP together?
Yes. They're separate servers in the same agent. Many designers would make the pitch with Sonder and, for a client who needs Webflow's CMS, build the final site in Webflow.
How do I add Sonder to Claude?
In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http sonder https://app.trysonder.dev/mcp, then /mcp. In Claude on the web, desktop or phone: add the same address as a custom connector. Every agent is on the connect page.
